Introduction

Thesis statement: The emergency of HIV, virus and how it quickly spread raised and
continues raising concerns around the globe; since there is still no available cure, one can
only try to mitigate its severity through drugs. The spread of HIV/AIDS has caused a stigma
that affects people living with AIDS and those without it. This paper will look at how stigma
is perpetuated by those surrounding the victims of this virus.

Failure to embrace HIV services, testing, and counseling:

Ignorance of critical information regarding how to tackle the disease is increasingly
proving to be a great catalyst to more infections worldwide—attending HIV training
workshops, seeking factual information regarding the disease is highly needed in our
society today.

Postponement or Rejection care and support:

The highest number of illiterate and those without factual information about HIV
will always possess shallow knowledge about its transmission mode and prevention.
Due to poor andwrong sexual behaviors, they will continue being prone to infectious
diseases and other STI;s since they will shy away from regular testing, thus
negatively affecting the already improving trajectory regarding new infections.

Government Stigma:

64% of countries worldwide have some form of legislation to cushion and protect the
people living with HIV. In comparison, 72% had effective systems or laws to
persecute people living with HIV for particular offenses (UNAIDS,2014).
